AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR NY HOMEOWNERS
There’s a new state program that’s helping homeowners across the state who are struggling to stay current on their housing payments.
NYS Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the New York State affordable housing agency, is launching the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) to support homeowners who have experienced financial hardship — either a loss of income or increase in living expenses — as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Homeowners that are behind on their housing bills can receive assistance like negotiating with their bank or mortgage servicer, free housing counseling and legal services, and financial assistance for past or future mortgage payments, property taxes, water or sewer bills, coop or condo fees, or manufactured home loans.
Applications to apply for the New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund will open soon. Until the application opens, we are here to answer any questions you may have.
